GPS Workflow

Local data collection

Digital camera Caplio 500SE with external GPS device:

First turn on the GPS receiver. Next turn on the RICOH Caplio 500SE digital camera.
The GPS receiver constantly determines the exact position and sends the data via Bluetooth to the camera.
alta4 recommends the Bluetooth GPS receiver BT Slim (SiRF III) from Fortuna.

Digital camera Caplio 500SE with attached RICOH SE-1

Turn on the camera. The GPS module SE-1 is turned on automatically sice the power supply is connected to the camera. The GPS device now constantly determines the exact position.

In both cases the position coordinates are saved with each picture the moment you take a photo.

The performance of the camera can be enhanced using an external memory card, which accelerates the photographic process.

In the office

Use the USB cable to download the photos from the camera to your PC or send your pictures via WLAN (only availabe in the 500SE-W).

Use one of the software components from alta4 for an efficient photo management and evaluation.

The software GPS PhotoMapper extracts the Exif header information and integrates your photos into ArcGIS.

ExifExtractor is the ideal photo management tool for non-ArcGIS users.

Fodysseus RE writes the Exif header information, including the memo data, into a kml file for the presentation in Google Earth. Fodysseus RE is included in the purchase of the GPS camera Caplio 500SE.
