Software

There are several software components for the management and evaluation of your GPS photos, according to purpose of use and available geographical information system.

GPS PhotoMapper provides everything for a convenient and efficient photo management within ArcGIS. Photos can be loaded to ArcMap by drag & drop. Your photos are then automatically georeferenced and displayed on the map at their recording location. Pictures without positioning data can be georeferenced manually.
ExifExtractor inaugurates the possibility to access the Exif header of your digital images and use the contents as attributes for an effective photo management. The software also stores the Exif content in several file formats so that non-ArcGIS users can integrate the GPS photos in other geographical information systems or Google Earth.

Fodysseus RE is included in the purchase of the GPS camera RICOH Caplio 500SE. The software writes the Exif information, including memo data tagged to the photos, to a kml file. This way you can easily present your photos on Google Earth and share them with others. In Google Earth your pictures are displayed at their recording location, even with their memo entries.
