Camera Memo
An outstanding feature of the Ricoh Caplio 500SE is its memo function. It allows you to save text information directly into the exif area of the taken picture.
Memos can be typed in using the screen keypad and the LCD screen of the camera, even though it is more comfortable to prepare memo lists on your computer using List Editor.
Up to five memo categories can be predefined and every category can have a random number of generic entries assigned to it.
Are we talking about a rental unit or a condo? Does the apartment have two, three, four or five rooms? How many square feet does the apartment have?
The pregenerated list is being transferred at the touch of a button via a USB cable to the camera and is stored on the SD card.
Since only one memo list can be available on the camera at a time it makes sense to have all your memo lists ready on your computer as mta-files. If needed these files can be activated using the List Editor software and can be transferred to the camera. A task of no more than two minutes.
Before taking the picture the memo function is activated and the user can navigate through the list using the arrow keys to select the desired entry. When the picture is taken the selected memos are assigned to the picture and saved in the exif header.
The notepad becomes unnecessary.
If requested the memo entries can be visualized in the picture as a so-called imprint.
This function finds its usage in the construction of any kind of land registry, classifications, crash recordings, on-site visits etc.
