How Geo-Imaging helps your business
A pictures says more than a thousand words. A map says
more than a thousand pictures.
GPS PhotoMapper connects both.
The digital camera RICOH Caplio 500SE and the software
GPS PhotoMapper enable the connection of photos with their
location and the integration into a GIS.
The exact position is determined
by a GPS receiver and saved within the header information
of the photo.
The
software GPS PhotoMapper allows the utilization of this information
and the integration into the geographic information system
ArcGIS from ESRI where the photos can easily be administered
by the GIS user. The pictures can be displayed individually
or as an extra thumbnail layer. Selection
critera are offered during the loading
process
of the photos into ArcGIS, e.g. the date or time the photos
were taken. Thus long and frustrating searching procedures
in archives belong to the past.
There are plenty of application areas, e.g.
desaster control where people are able to document the situation
with exact time and position information. GPS PhotoMapper
is also used in classical documentation areas such as
environmental protection, real estate, tourism or traffic.
In many application areas of object documenation and administration
georeferenced photos are absolutely necessary. Often this
has to be done during long working
hours in the
office.
This has become unnecessary with the RICOH Caplio 500SE and GPS PhotoMapper because most data is collected automatically.
