    Ricoh G700SE firmware v1.07

    Thursday, April 7th, 2011
Ricoh recently released the latest firmware version 1.07 for the G700SE. This update adresses several issues and equippes the camera with a few new functions at the ame time.

    New Functions:

    • Add Folder: the camera can create several destionation folders on the SD-card
    • GP-1 refresh: Enables a manual reset of the GPS-Modul
    • Images can now be sent to mobile phones via Bluetooth

    Issues fixed:

    • When GP1 has no GPS data, the signal sign is changed to orange
    • WPA-PSK connection trouble in manual setting by camera menu
    • Bluetooth divice name is changed to ‘Caplio G700SE’ to ‘G700SE’
    • FTP server connection trouble
    • Failure when sending files via IIS FTP server.
    • Part of the file breaks when it’s sent via FTP.
    • In some case, cannot be connected with Bluetooth device.
    • Cannot send image files by Bluetooth to Trimble GeoXM/ProXH (Windows6.1)
    • When Barcode modul (BR-1) is connected to G700SE, 1 dimension barcode from interleaved 2 to 5 cannot be read.

We highly recommend customers with a firmware version lower than 1.05 updating the G700SE to latest firmware in order to ensure GPS functionality. Proir versions caused unkown memory issues within the camera software, which caused the loss of GPS reception.

Review: ESRI California / Hawaii / Nevada RUG

    Monday, February 28th, 2011

The 2011 ESRI CAHINV regional User Conference started with the plenary session of Jack Dangermond, founder and CEO of ESRI in Redlands, California. The message sent out is clear: “The world will move towards a collective geographical understanding.” Jack Dangermond motivated GIS enterprises and users to “open our world to everyone” and share geospatial infrastructures. In order to involve citizens in GIS, it will not only be necessary to make data available, it will be more important to figure out what maps will be needed.   Therefore it is important to use broadly accepted data sources, like social media platforms, in order to enrich GI-Systems with diverse observations, perceptions and opinions. Going theses paths, will allow web based geospatial frameworks to get more collaborative, transparent and integrative.

Jack Dangermond further explained how ArcGIS 10 was developed to server these qualities. The development of ArcGIS 10 was an 350M Dollar investment in the future. ArcGIs is already available as a free iPhone app with a complete coverage of 1975, 1990, 2000, 2005 and 2010 data. The online Platform ArcGIS Online is growing rapidly at the same time, in fact 30% per month with more than 100.000+ Users already. This way sharing models will become easier.

The 10.1 Version of ArcGIS will go into the beta this summer and be released late fall in 2011. While waiting for new developments to come, alta4 will already shows one of the latest products in the GIS industry at next week’s Partner conference in Palm Spings.
